Day Tours Development Program

In 2000 the Victoria Community Development Corporation(VCDC) developed a proposal to attract more people from around the Avalon Peninsula on one day bus tours to the Baccalieu Trail. The idea was to develop promotional materials about sites on the trail that have organized an educational program already in place. This information would be targeted at Elementary schools, seniors groups and community service groups.

In March 2001 the VCDC formed a partnership with the Baccalieu Trail Tourism Association (BBTA) so this program could be offered on a regional level. The BTTA acted as sponsor and lead organization with the VCDC handling day to day operations of project. Promotional materials have been developed for the ten participating sites. Printing of materials is scheduled to be completed by May 15, 2001 and staff will continue making contact with targeted organizations.
