Vacations
That Matter began in 2002 as an initiative of the Victoria
Community Development Corporation (VCDC) to bring Volunteer
Vacationers to the province.
The
VCDC was aware of the large number of projects in the province
which could not be completed due to insufficient workers and
insufficient funding. Volunteer Vacations seemed an ideal
solution. The vacationers would be able to complete work which
otherwise would not be finished, while at the same time experiencing
the hospitality and beauty of Newfoundland and Labrador, passing
information about their experiences to others once they returned
home.
